Duty Control Manager
Location: WalesWhat is the purpose of this role?
This is a role that will lead and manage a team of people from both companies that work within the CVL ICC. Directing in all aspects of train service delivery, incident, management, competence, training and industry information provision.
Lead and develop the service delivery centre team to provide an outstanding service to all railway industry customers and stakeholders.
What will this role involve?
- With the Head of Operations create an engaged and motivated working environment and act as a role model to develop a culture that supports and encourages the development of the team.
- To lead and manage the on shift team in the delivery of a safe, efficient and optimal train plan for all operators and their customers.
- Lead the development and delivery of all aspects of the short-term operational strategy
- Facilitate the process whereby all safety of the line incidents is being managed appropriately.
- During incidents with significant business operational impact assume the role of Rail Incident Commander
- Provides strategic direction to the response personnel and to set up a command structure as required.
- Lead the control team in keeping a daily record for all notable operational, safety and infrastructure events using the available systems in accordance with the relevant company standards and instructions.
- Lead the ICC team in the development and appropriate application of the contingency plans in times of disruption.
- Lead incident reviews considering customer needs, establish systems to monitor and review the implementation of recommendations and the effect of future performance.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of up to date operational and safety policies and procedures, relating to train service delivery, control of operations and control personnel.
- Manage the integrity of sensitive operational and security documentation and information.
- Ensure Competence & Training of ECO & Signalling staff are maintained

Essential
- Experience of leading and managing teams within a highly pressurised operations environment
- Experience of strategic decision-making
- Educated to degree level or matching experience
- Good negotiating skills and ability to make objective decisions
- Able to manage conflict, influence others and work under pressure
- Experience of balancing business and stakeholder priorities
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable
- Previous experience of working within a safety critical communications environment
- Knowledge of Network Rail and Train Operating Companies across the network and the key aspects of their business
- Experience of railway industry operational rules and regulations
