I am currently recruiting for an Engagement and Communications Director to join a large rail organisation on a permanent basis in London.
This role is a brilliant opportunity to leave huge legacy.
The Euston Partnership involves a complex group of partners and stakeholders, which has Local, National, and international significance. As TEP progresses, it will be subject to ever increasing interest and scrutiny. Timely and effective communication and engagement will be vital to the success of this project.
The Director will strategically lead, and be accountable for, the communications and engagement function, providing professional advice, expertise, and leadership on all aspects of external communications, stakeholder engagement, brand and marketing.
The postholder will be accountable for driving interest and awareness to build understanding between One Euston, its Partners and the Shared Vision. They will also develop and deliver communications and engagement activities that increase support and favourability of the projects and build confidence, enhancing the reputation.

The main duties of the role will include:
- The development of best in class integrated communications and engagement strategy that looks to drive interest and awareness amongst key audiences to build understanding
- Directing and embedding the communication and engagement directorate function within TEP with accountability for its strategic development
- Communications including narrative, messaging, media relations, public affairs, marketing and branding, web and social media
- Engagement including community relations and public consultation, events and projects across various impacted and interested audiences
- Driving a programme of integrated activities by leading the co-ordination and alignment of key communication and engagement activity outputs
- Leading the management of key communication and engagement interfaces, facilitating collaboration, manging competing agendas and resolving conflict between Euston and partners
- Leading the development of key stakeholder relationships, partnerships and projects that are identified and aligned to the priorities of the Partners, that will help release the early benefits and social value of the project
- Drive a place-based brand for Euston that looks to create interest and excitement in whats taking place in the area
- Leading the development and delivery of marketing strategy to promote Euston as an inevitable proposition to the market
- Overseeing structures and community engagement practices across all delivery partner organisations and contractors
- Leading and chairing the Communication and Engagement Panel
- Supporting and coordinating reactive responses to local media, political enquiries, Freedom of Information requisition, Parliamentary Queries
- Influencing and negotiating skills with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Coaching skills, including with senior executives
- Ability to represent an organisation in challenging situations and environments
- Ability to work with ambiguity and changing circumstances
- Communication skills, including drafting content, verbal communications, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate using a range of styles, tools and techniques
- Analytical skills
- Knowledge of British media and press operations
- Understanding of the news cycle
- Understanding of government communication processes
- Knowledge of community relations, public affairs, social media and media relations
- Construction
- Other modes of transport (aviation) including terminals, operators, passengers
- Property development (expanding, building, passenger experiences
- Media, corporate and political communications
- Operating within a complex environment with evidence of effective media, parliamentary, business and stakeholder engagement
- Working at a senior level in the day to day running of a busy press officer, pro active media relations, public affairs influencing, issues management and crisis communications
