We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Crossrail team in Westferry, London.
As the Engineering Manager you’ll be working in the Railway System Discipline (Communications and Controls), the purpose of the role is to lead Crossrail’s Technical and Engineering functions within the EM’s respective Railway Systems (RS) ECC Contracts i.e 600 Series Main Works Packages, and thereby support the CRL Project Manager in discharging the technical component of his/ her duties under the contract. The role is also to support the relevant RS Heads of Discipline in discharging the CRL Technical Authority and specifically in relation to ensuring overall design configuration control and integration with the rest of the railway.
What you’ll be doing, but not limited to:
- Act as the Technical Authority for the design configuration and issue of the projects reference design and where appropriate supported by Crossrail’s Technical Heads of Discipline for relevant C6XX contract.
- On behalf of the Project Manager, oversee the technical acceptance of Contractors designs, via CRL’s HOD’s, in accordance with the NEC3 ECC contract and CRL’s Technical Assurance Processes and Procedures
- Support the contractor’s designers and supply chain with their requirement to ensure that their designs are properly integrated with their key contractual and physical interfaces.
- Be the main point of contact, for technical and design matters, relating to the EM’s respective Design and Works Packages.
- For any agreed changes, managing the interface arrangements such that other disciplines are supplied with information to allow their progression.
Some challenges you’ll come across:
- Managing design configuration and integration the scoped asset with others.
- Supporting the PM and HOD in managing the process for contractors Technical Assurance of the design.
About you
- A Chartered Engineer or equivalent, with experience in engineering of Railway Communications and Control Systems.
- Professional Qualifications or equivalent in Radio, Network, SCADA engineering or an associated discipline.
- A comprehensive understanding of the issues affecting railway systems in particular the key interfaces and integrations of these systems during the design, construction, test and commissioning stages of a major railway programme of works.
- Knowledge of Interoperability regulations and requirements
- Good knowledge of construction planning and logistics
Type: Contract 3 + months
Rate: £500 - £600 (INSIDE IR35, the successful candidate will have to operate via an umbrella solution)
