Engineering Manager in Australia

Downer has a long history of delivering transport infrastructure projects under a variety of contracting models. Services include the design and construction of light rail, heavy rail, bridge and roads, as well as track and station work, signalling and rail safety technology.

Our Northern Infrastructure Business have an opportunity for a Engineering Manager to join the Infrastructure Projects team in our Milton Offices. You will be accountable for leading the Project Engineering Team, integrating, building and growing capability to provide customer focused engineering solutions that are enabling, innovative and competitive.

About You

  • Demonstrated capability in Civil Construction with exposure to major rail infrastructure projects.
  • Maintenance / Possession planning experience within rail environments.
  • Qualified professional engineer to Bachelor of Engineering level.
  • Understanding of cost control and budget preparation and ability to manage projects to budget.
  • Technical aptitude, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong ability to rapidly grasp the nuances of client needs in complex situations with competing demands.
  • Ability to structure appropriate solutions to meet client needs and address problem areas.
  • Ability to lead others to deliver an agreed outcome.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A strong bias for talent development of self and others
  • Proven experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 major Rail contractor desirable but not essential;
