The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA), is an innovative Government Agency and a highly sought-after employer offering once in a lifetime opportunities to work on major rail infrastructure projects. The PTA is looking for qualified and experienced engineers and transport professionals to help grow and maintain the state’s public transport network.
In addition to maintaining the existing network the Government has recently commenced a major program of rail projects named METRONET with the aim of updating & extending the Perth metropolitan rail network and is looking for experienced rail engineers across a number of disciplines to help deliver these exciting phases of work
We are looking to hear from Environmental Managers interested in emigrating to Australia. This position manages the environment functions for the Major Projects Division which comprises of coordinating the Division’s environmental compliance including the Environmental Management System (EMS) and statutes; as well as working with the PTA’s Corporate Division on ongoing policy development. The role also manages the identification, remediation and monitoring of contaminated sites.
Core duties and responsibilities
Management
- Manages the environmental functions of the Major Projects Unit and provides a service to other Divisions as set out by the Environmental Management System.
- Liaises with the Project Directors and Project Managers in establishing the timely environmental compliance requirements for individual projects.
- Provides environmental advice to Project Directors and Project Managers relating to the establishment of new projects and completion of existing projects.
Review and Best Practice
- Represents the Major Projects Unit on directorate initiated strategic reviews and evaluations of environmental policies.
- Liaises with other jurisdictions (State and Commonwealth) on issues and initiatives to improve effectiveness and cooperation.
- Accurately maintains the PTA’s Works Program and ensures it is readily available to stakeholders.
To be suitable for this role you will have:
- Sound experience in environmental management, especially those issues that affect planning, design, construction and operations of major transport systems or infrastructure projects.
- Relevant experience of environmental legislation, regulations and controls as they affect infrastructure projects
- Ability to work as a team member and to specify and control work undertaken by others, including consultants.
- Excellent report writing skills.
