Principal Engineering Manager
Location: NationwideWhat is the purpose of this role?
This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to join Amey’s rail delivery team and develop the next generation of Electrification and Plant. Working alongside some of the best Electrification and Plant engineers in the industry, you will be an integral part of our team. You will be given the freedom to perform and maximise your engineering creativity. Amey is a nationwide employer so the role location is flexible and there will be a mix of home and site working on schemes spread across the UK with our clients and technology partners.
As Principal Engineering Manager you will be nominated to NR as Contractor’s Engineering Manager, and will have overall accountability for E&P/OCS engineering activities.
The role will include to manage and develop the Project Engineering / CRE teams within Electrification and Plant framework, supporting contracts and projects across Amey Rail, to achieve targets and project objectives in respect of growth and staff utilisation.
What will this role involve?
•Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, legal and special requirements.
•Responsible for Engineering Assurance and technical delivery of E&P/OLE within delivery of schemes.
•Develop, maintain and own client relationships in order to promote long-term partnerships.
•Embrace and control compliance with Company procedures, policies and delivery plans.
•From time to time, visits to construction sites will be required at part of site supervision support and leadership depending on the projects the team are involved in.
•Manage and administer all engineering deliverables on the Project;
•Undertake Client Liaison activities to support Network Rail’s Technical Requirements;
•Compliance with applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements/specifications;
•Lead for Quality management and driving quality initiatives on Projects and feed into Regional data collection;
•Control of quality assurance, document control and asset management process;
•Management of Systems Safety Engineering (CSM-RA, EIS, T&C, Systems Integration);
•Management of design delivery and provision of regular design status reports to the Project lead;
•Design/s are assured to the correct level of checking independence and approved;
•Engineering resource and any mentoring training and briefing requirements are carried out;
•Site-engineering controls are planned and delivered to facilitate construction
Approve/or set up delegated signatories for the issue of Construction Phase Plans & Work Package Plans;
What are we looking for?
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:
•Experience delivering Electrification and Plant within Multi-discipline Rail Projects;
•Proven experience and understanding of industry engineering management standard NR/L2/INI/02009;
•Thorough knowledge of railway engineering and operations.
•Knowledge of statutory railway requirements such as CSM-RA, CDM2015, ROGS, RiR etc;
•Good skills in Relationship Development aligned to customer focus, communication, influencing, Risk Management, Problem Solving /Decision Making, Leadership, Achieving Results, Managing People and development, and Partnering & Collaborative working.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Training:
•Chartered/Incorporated Engineer
•Knowledge and experience of Electrification and Plant
