Rail reporting - Control Room Manager
Location: Manchester
What is the purpose of this role?
The Control Room Manager will be responsible for the provision of an effective and compliant control room across the project on a 24/7 basis.
- Ensuring the team of Control Room Operatives safeguard the rail footprint, ensuring it is monitored on a continual basis and that the appropriate emergency response measures are in place to respond to any safety or security incidents.
- Ensuring that all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
The role of the Control Room Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that collation and reporting of shift reports and other associated KPI data are distributed to relevant stakeholders by the control room team.
They shall act as a senior onsite contact for items requiring escalation to senior management and discharge their duties in line with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM2015) and Amey procedures.
What will this role involve?
- To promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below.
- To ensure that the Control Room is effectively resourced to provide a 24/7 roster whenever works is undertaken within the PC footprint.
- To ensure that processes and procedures are in place to monitor the rail works footprint at all times, and that the necessary equipment is provided and maintained to achieve this.
- To ensure that all Control Room Operatives are trained and competent in all positions within the Control Room.
- To ensure that all Control Room Operatives are trained to effectively handle any accident, emergency, or incident, and that the related emergency and safety procedures are maintained, up to date and practiced
- To ensure that all Control Room colleagues are trained to effectively handle any Security related emergency or incident, and that the related emergency and safety procedures are maintained, up to date and practiced.
- To collate shift reports at pre-determined times (4 hourly reporting, end of shift reporting, AM/PM reporting etc.) in line with the programme/ stakeholder requirements and escalate any short falls to on call management as and when required
- To undertake periodic site safety tours and compliance checks on behalf of Amey
- Effectively manage the project team, including development, and performance management.
- Aligning the project(s) with the overall Amey business strategy and processes.
- Assist the PC Team in management of ‘for cause’ testing process on site.
- Ensuring that logs are set up for managing and tracking issues, risks, decisions and lessons learned
- Support the project compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other appropriate regulations
- Collate shift reports using digital aids as prescribed by Senior Management
- Distribution of shift reports to relevant key personnel
- Attendance at works deconfliction and whiteboard meetings.
- To prepare ‘construction summary reports’ ahead of works (data entry)
- Finalise and issue construction summary data to senior management
What are we looking for?
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- Excellent Level of Computer literacy – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
- Understanding of Railway Planning systems.
- Satisfy requirements of PTS medical.
- Personal track safety AC (PTS AC)
- Acceptance of Sponsorship
- Standard 019 Briefing
- D&A Screening
- Must be able to drive.
- Basic project management/ supervisory experience in multi-disciplinary project environment.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- NEBOSH Certificate in Construction or similar
- IWA/COSS/SWL1 Competency
- CDM (2015) Regulations Training
- Presentation skills, collaborative working
