Job Summary
A leading player in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors specialising in across transportation, highways and energy sectors is looking to take on a Section Manager to join the joint venture responsible for the construction and delivery of HS2's Old Oak Common station in North West London. The circa £1bn project will include the delivery of six underground platforms as well as up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line.
Reporting to the Senior Package Manager the Section Manager will also be responsible for managing a team of site, section engineers, supervisory staff, plant teams and specialist subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Managing subcontractors and suppliers and advising on commercial aspects / preferred attendances and operational risks
- Managing targets and monitoring performance of Key Performance Indicators in line with the project objectives
- Taking a lead of Health and Safety changes with the team and supply chain and implanting a culture for change when required
- Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and making sure this information is communicated to the team effectively
- Ensuring the technical and contractual requirements are compliant, especially with regards to Health & Safety and Environment
- Managing the resources allocated to the Works Section and identifying opportunity for development and training
- Conducting site audits and coordinating the implementation of quality assurance and control plans for self-delivery activities, subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinating the overall Handover Documentation and Procedures for Section
- Actively participating and reporting progress in the weekly team leader and project review meetings to review strategic performance on site
Person Specification
- A formal qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience as an Agent or managing teams of engineers and site staff
- Previous experience working on projects in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage
