My client is currently seeking a Shift Manager for a contract position based in Wimbledon.
Description
Implements defined overall production standards, and oversees and manages all production operations, within a single plant or site, which may include area related maintenance and engineering services.
* Drives the strategic development of the organization unit(s) assigned.
* Implements defined superior policies and guidelines, and defines and ensures implementation of function specific processes, procedures, methods and/or tools.
* Ensures adherence at any time to relevant internal and local EHS-standards.
* Plans and proposes units budget and decides and allocates financial and personnel resources, within given limits.
* Manages and develops all the respective work flow process to ensure all production targets (Quality, Quantity, Delivery in time) are achieved.
* Designs and proposes short- and midterm development of his production unit (continuous improvement), and sets up and monitors completion of agreed investment projects.
* Ensures optimum machine utilization and product scheduling.
* Ensures availability of working instructions, rules and guidelines for all productions sections, shifts or production lines assigned.
* Contributes to and implements productions plans.
* Evaluates and contributes to implementation of maintenance programs.
* Contributes to planning and supervision of contractor work orders.
* Cooperates with concerned Sales, Project Management and other technical and support functions to execute the manufacturing program.
* Manages organization unit(s) assigned, and leads and/or coordinates dedicated Management, Professionals and staff.
Responsible for the day to day delivery of the Train Service Agreement to the customer, ensuring the on time maintenance of rolling stock undertaken and controlled by teams of Supervisors and Technicians. Responsible for the planning, preparation and operating performance of the maintenance schedules.
Other responsibilities include:
- Plan and manage all resources including people, plant, material, tools and third party services to meet the operational requirements. Develop and execute production plan to meet business targets, keeping deferred work to a minimum. Ensure all maintenance activity is undertaken in accordance with the relevant maintenance instruction. Ensure optimum shift coverage minimising downtime, complaints or delay to our customers. Ensure any extraordinary circumstances or any complex work is built into the plan.
- Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility. Understand, implement and comply with the Siemens Rolling Stock HSEW policies. Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team (or virtual team) and ensure employees raise issues and participate in implementation of agreed changes. Fully participate and engage in RL behavioural safety agenda to ensure you and your team work safely. Take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions that may have an environmental impact. Accept personal responsibility to take care of ourselves and any others affected by one's own acts or omissions.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Know-How
Essential:
Management or supervisory experience in a technical position
Technical knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance procedures/practices
Engineering ONC or equivalent qualification or experience
Good knowledge of IT systems/software
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Strong organisation/planning skills
Preferred:
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
Good understanding of Health, Safety and environment legislation/procedures
Basic understanding of project management principles
Contract/Commercial knowledge
