Technical (Engineering) Manager in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
Samuel Knight are currently looking for a permanent Technical (Engineering) Manager on behalf of our global client who have an exciting opportunity in Scunthorpe to lead a number of Rolling Stock/OTM/MPV manufacturing, repair and maintenance projects within the UK and Switzerland.
This is an excellent, challenging opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic experienced candidate looking for their next challenge. The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for the coordination of work completed by the UK staff and within the plants in Switzerland. You will be based Scunthorpe but you will be expected to travel between the secondary office in the South and to the Switzerland plant as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
- To plan and manage all technical and engineering activities throughout the UK.
- Work closely with colleagues within Switzerland to support with technical and engineering issues and support, as and when needed.
- To lead the workforce effectively, safety and efficiently both on site and in the workshop.
- Be a point of contact and regularly liaise with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure all expectations are being met.
- To ensure all work is completed in line with Company policies and procedures and rail industry regulations.
- To contribute towards the company’s performance and continual successful growth plans, to enhance the Company’s profitability.
- Maintaining relationships with Managing Director, Operations Manager, HSQE Lead and technical staff within the UK and Switzerland.
Experience and Qualifications and Personal Attributes
- Engineering Degree or equivalent experience (i.e Apprenticeship and progression).
- At least 5 years' experience working in a similar role (Preferably within the Rail industry)
- Being Electrical Bias and previous knowledge of working with Hydraulics is essential.
- Proven track experience of Project Management, ideally within a Rail or Heavy Engineering background.
- Ability to organise and delegate workloads and projects between various locations.
- Ability to manage projects from start to completion, ensuring all work is completed to the appropriate standard in relation to company policies.
- You must be willing to travel between 2 UK sites and the plant in Switzerland when required.
- Must have a valid Full Driving Licence.
