A crucial phase of this project is on the construction and delivery of this programme of works which requires a Technical workstream manager to deliver on time, cost, quality, and above all safety.
This to be carried out in accordance with the requirements defined within the Development and Delivery team’s governance structure. Processes, roles and responsibilities will vary due to the wide range of internal and external funding bodies and governance requirements of respective organisations.
About you
Our client is looking for someone who can support the delivery of this major public transport programme. Ideally, with appropriate degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Systems Engineering or Transport Management, you will already have an understanding of public transport operations and have experience of Intelligent Transport Systems.

What will you be doing?
- Support the Technical Programme manager in delivering and reporting on the outputs and outcomes of the technical workstream
- Deputise for the Sprint Technical Programme Manager in meetings, actions, and reporting as required
- Ensuring client responsibilities for Health and Safety are fulfilled in line with our Health and Safety policy and procedures
- Review and update relevant risk registers.
- Ensure project schedules are kept up to date.

Oversee technical workstream delivery specifically in the following areas:
- Shelter delivery
- Closed Circuit Television delivery.
- Real-Time Information delivery
- Ticketing Vending delivery.
- Shelter removals.
- Information provision.
- Bus priority testing and configuration.
- Bus Operator Liaison.
- Manage stakeholders and suppliers, monitoring the progress of the above technical projects, and escalating matters related to supplier performance.
- Support financial reviews of the technical workstream.
- Assist with document management and control of the technical workstream.
- Assist with any other Project Management duties as and when required.
- Support Technical Board and LHA interfaces, deputising for Technical Programme.
- Manage where required :
- Support the Sprint Technical Programme Manager in meeting attendance, documentation, and completion of actions associated.
- Attend and, where appropriate, Deputise for Sprint Technical Programme Manager in meetings, actions, and reporting as required.
- Preparation of Technical Board papers and materials as required.
- Management of document storage on SharePoint.
- Support in raising necessary contractual documentation via CEMAR as required.
- Liaising with internal teams regarding the Technical Workstreams
- Liaising with the Local Highway Authorities, utilities contractors, and internal staff to coordinate required works.
- Coordinate with the civils contractors and utility providers on the scheme
- Managing local stakeholder requirements
- Liaising with key stakeholders including, Birmingham Airport, Virgin Trains and Jaguar Land Rover
- Apply effective contract administration skills to enable monitoring of contractor progress against contracted sums, program, and quality criteria
- Support the Technical Programme Manager in controlling project delivery, monitoring actual progress against that planned, putting measures in place where actual progress deviates adversely from the baselines identified during the planning stage.
- To prepare regular project documentation for review by the project boards in a timely, accurate and cohesive manner, providing visibility to Senior Management
- Project progress and early notification of any risks which may adversely affect any aspect of project delivery
- To identify and manage the Health, Safety & Environmental aspects including adherence to the relevant and current legislation and where appropriate providing visibility to Senior Management of any issues of note.
- To ensure that project management best practice is identified and utilised through the Project Delivery process.
- To ensure that Lessons Learnt as part of the post-project review are recognized and implemented as appropriate in the development & delivery of the project portfolio going forward.
The Role Holder
- Experience in Civil Engineering, Transport Management, IT
- Good Communication Skills (both written and verbal).
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining project performance
- Exhibits pro-activity and creative thinking when faced with challenges requiring resolution
- Ability to work as part of a team
