The Role

Reporting into the Head of Programmes, you will be working on rail civil engineering projects predominantly consisting of bridges and structures works at GRIP stages 3-8. You can expect to be Planning on 10-12 live schemes concurrently so you must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment! These projects are some of the most exciting in the company’s business and will range in technicality from bridge painting/resurfacing/blasting, all the way through to complex repairs/refurbishments and full bridge demolitions and replacements.

What is expected of me as P6 Planner?

  • You will assist in the preparation of integrated and co-ordinated project programmes, enabling value forecasting, resource requirements, material requirements and equipment requirements to be forward planned.
  • You will take responsibility for project planning and programme and progress monitoring, including information flow, design, programme, and site works.
  • This position is multi-faceted so you will be heavily liaising with the Site Teams, Engineering, Commercial, and Regional Operations management.
  • You will understand what factors drive progress and advise on actions required to meet the project milestones, incorporate these factors into the programme, and ensure that there is an acceptable level of programme risk.
  • Assist in the management of change in regards of impact on programmes and progress and advise where factors are affecting the programme.
  • Provide the planning service for Project procurement, including monthly review of the Procurement schedule.
  • Monitor site progress and assimilate progress for activities on the programme that have or should have progressed in the period.
  • Consider and discuss alternatives and programme improvements.
  • Maintain the as-built programme.

Package

For this position, the company is offering a basic salary of £50,000 to £60,000 per annum, the choice of a company car or car allowance, 26 days holiday + bank holidays with two optional charity days and the option to buy more holidays, funding and support with professional memberships, Pension, Life assurance and an Agile working policy.

About you

To hit the ground running in this role you must have significant experience operating as a Planner building programmes using Primavera 6/P6 software – ideally on rail civil engineering projects involving bridges and structures.

You will ideally come from a main contractor background and must be able to display will, and ability to pragmatically work in a fast-paced environment.
