P6 Planner in London, Hybrid, United Kingdom
The Project Planner will play a critical role in planning and supporting the project team through design, delivery, testing and commissioning. The Project Planner will be responsible for developing, analysing, and updating the project programme, and supporting reports, throughout the lifetime of the project.
The Project Planner will act in a proactive and problem-solving manner to ensure that the project programme provides an efficient and contractually compliant plan of works. They will use strong communication skills to engage with the project team, specialist suppliers, client and third parties to ensure that all key programme drivers are identified and understood.
The Project Planner will support the administration of the NEC contract by demonstrating the time impact of compensation events. They will also develop robust delay mitigation strategies.
The Project Planner will be a major contributor in the preparation of project controls reporting. They will work closely with the commercial team to deliver earned value and cost forecasting reports. They will review data outputs and adjust as required to ensure that the reporting metrics are relevant to the project at each stage.
Responsibilities
• Development of the programme with relevant parties
• Communicate the programme with the project team, client and supply chain
• One to one planning support to the project team members
• Collect data from a range of sources including project team, drawings, supplier programmes, contractual communications, site records and commercial records
• Update the programme to accurately show progress and delays
• Produce regular performance reports including analysis of slippage and proposed delay mitigations
• Produce earned value, cost and resource forecast analysis
• Benchmarking and promoting continuous improvement
• Maintenance of the programme and standard output reports
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
University Degree in engineering, or equivalent further education and/or 10 years plus of relevant industry/sector experience
• At least 5 years’ experience in the delivery of design and build of Communication systems in a Railway environment (Network Rail and / or London Underground, in particular): Radio, Civils, Telecommunication
• Professional Membership of Relevant Built Environment Institution (MIET, APM, CIOB)
• Good knowledge and practical experience of planning for a Principal Contractor
• Good knowledge and practical experience of planning under NEC contracts
• Good knowledge and practical experience of setting up data management and version control in a planning environment
• Advanced Primavera P6 Software user
• Advanced Excel user
• High level of computer literacy and fully conversant in Microsoft Office Products
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Self-motivated and accustomed to being in positions of responsibility and accountability
