Are you a Planning engineer looking for a position which will provide you with an exciting diversity of work? An internationally renowned main contractor has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer to join their rail and civils division and work on a series of packages for major clients. This is an ideal position for somebody keen to progress into Planning Management as there will be a huge requirement for such role as the works progress.

The Role

Joining the companies Rail and Civils UK division, you will be working with a great mix of ‘key account’ clients across the Rail, Highways and Construction industries on a series of medium sized projects. As Senior Planning engineer, it will be your responsibility to drive the programme at both pre-construction and construction phases using either ASTA or P6 to produce plans autonomously whilst working with numerous stakeholders, operations, and commercial teams to ensure the ultimate accuracy of programmes produced.

What is expected of me as Senior Planning Engineer?

• You will update the Detailed Design Programme (Pre-Construction Schedule) along with the designers in assurance of providing a robust and realistic schedule that reflects the risk and opportunity that could impact key project milestones.
• Review and develop the preferred construction sequence considering project wide constraints to confirm the duration in the overall scheme schedule.
• Facilitate construction readiness planning.
• Arrange, facilitate and provide output from client and supply chain collaborative planning sessions.
• Cost load the schedule.
• Generate Earned Value Analysis from the cost loaded schedule.
• Monthly updating of the schedule and reports.
• Update and analyse the schedule based on the effects of Compensation events or other events which may affect the programme.

Package

For this position, the company is offering a basic salary of £65,000 to £70,000 per annum, the choice of a company car or car allowance, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, funding and support with professional memberships, Pension, Life assurance and an Agile working policy (3-day office 2-day home split).

About you

To hit the ground running in this role you must have significant experience operating as a Planner or Senior Planner building programmes using Primavera 6/P6 or ASTA software on large scale Civil Engineering or Building projects with interface with clients and internal stakeholders.

It’s essential and you come from a main contractor background working within civils and can autonomously build programmes from scratch.
