Strategy Director

Role Summary:

Leading the definition and delivery of EWR Co.'s strategy in order to meet the objectives established by the DfT as Strategic Sponsor. The role will provide the guiding mind to ensure the organisation is focused on the customer, drives delivery of programme benefits and innovation. It will also provide a clear focal point for all stakeholder engagement, ranging from government to local stakeholders

Provide strategic leadership to the establishment and operation of EWR Co.

Support policy development and provide strategic challenge to ensure alignment to the objectives of the Secretary of State for Transport

Act as Sponsor and assure benefits realization across programme delivery and operations

Be accountable for the development of business cases.

Build communications and necessary stakeholder relationships internally and externally

Establish strong working relationships with key Government stakeholders and regulatory organisations

Develop the PMO capability ensuring there is an integrated programme plan

Facilitate, capture and sponsor the generation of innovative ideas and solutions

Act as the custodian of the customer vision and ensure this is represented across all aspects of the scheme

Be accountable for the development of processes, definition of system requirements and management of associated data related to strategy and sponsorship

Support commitment to excellent customer service and customer experience.

Act as a role model for EWR Co.'s vision and values.

  • Executive presence, presentation and communication skills
  • Strong collaborative working ability with key internal and external partners, suppliers and customers
  • Experience in facilitating the entire range of problem-solving work
  • Experience in the development of innovative solutions in a business environment
  • Experience in delivering business change programmes
  • Experience in translating and communicating complex topics in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience
  • Strong leadership, people and team management skills
  • The ability to work within a complex stakeholder environment
  • Preferably knowledge and experience of the UK rail industry
