Due to my clients continued growth they are currently seeking a Timetable Planning Specialist to join their capacity planning team in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to shape their own future.

The Capacity Planning team develop innovative solutions to optimise available rail network capacity. Using the latest techniques in train planning and performance analysis they continue to support major projects and changes to the national rail timetable. Through excellent understanding of project requirements and robust reporting, they successfully support exciting programmes of work that both meet and exceed the client’s requirements.

The successful candidate will be providing support to the team and the wider organisation to provide expert understanding of rail timetabling and capacity analysis, you will be joining a team of passionate and dedicated professionals working together on both challenging and innovative projects.

Principal duties

Identifying innovative solutions to optimise rail capacity

Understanding the relationship between track access and rail maintenance planning

Timetable planning using a recognised industry standard software

Understanding and application of Timetable Planning Rules and local planning restrictions

Knowledge of rolling stock and rail operations

Producing timetable capacity reports

Essential skills

Rail timetable planning experience

Industry standard timetable software experience;

Good analytical skills;

Good level of general computer literacy;

Good written and verbal communications skills;

Excellent organisation and time-management;

High attention to detail

Desirable skills

Simulation Modelling experience;

Knowledge of rail operations;

Rail simulation software knowledge;
