Samuel Knight are pleased to be working with a leading engineering company in the rail industry who are seeking a Supply Chain Quality Engineer to join their business in Buckinghamshire.

The successful candidate will be supporting engineering and production management, building relationships with key suppliers while ensuring compliance with our clients own quality & deliver performance standards.

It is not essential that the successful candidate hold experience in the Rail industry.

As part of the role, you will be working in partnership with different internal teams which include project engineering, design engineers and sourcing teams - while also working with & reporting to the companies head of quality.

A major part of the role will be to work closely with senior leadership both internally and with our clients key supply chain, to make processes efficient, continously improving and with minimum waste.

The successful candidate will be analysing the processes used to produce the supplied products & parts and managing risk. There is also a strong element of maximising opportunity in regards to price, delivery and compliance.

This role will require understanding of manufacturing principles, in addition to an engineering compency & understaning of quality control techniques.

SCQE role will be required to support supply chain management team at various locations. This may also include supplier visits, audit support and improvement assessments. Whilst this position will not be part of the senior management team, the role definition dictates it will be considered a senior position within the organisation.

Main Responsibilities of Role:

• Manage information exchange between key suppliers and design houses ensuring company interests are protected.
• Influence supplier selection decisions.
• Participate in design reviews, managing the interface between the design house and the supplier in terms of information exchange, performance requirements and supporting commercial compliance.
• Assess supplier performance and drive continuous improvement activities where necessary.
• Develop supplier Key performance Indicators and tools to identify priorities.
• Identify improvement opportunities.
• Support issue management and problem resolution within suppliers and across suppliers and or design houses, where required.
• Influence senior leaders and supply chain to support project requirements.
• Work closely with purchasing, project engineering and design being the conduit for necessary information flow
• Work closely with Sourcing and quality teams to identify supplier issues and seek resolution.

Professional Experience and Qualifications Required:

• Degree or Post Graduate Diploma
• Minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing and production environment.
• Experience operating in a supply chain and / or continuous environment (green belt preferred).
• Ideally but not essentially a product design background.
