£350 - £400 /day (In-scope of IR35)
Duration – On Going contract initially.
“Our client is a well-established Nationwide Rail company who provide an exceptional service to their customers and are focused on continually improving this.” This work will be on the Transpennine Route Upgrade.
The Purpose of this role is to assist the Assistant PM and Construction Managers as well as giving guidance to less experienced engineers on their projects. The successful candidate will lead the engineering and technical activities for allocated projects to facilitate conformance to the contract specification and delivery to programme timescales.
Responsibilities
- Using Engineering and Surveying equipment (Trimble, Mephisto, and Amber trolley).
- Manage the engineering activity on allocated projects including support for design reviews.
- Advise the Assistant PM / Construction Managers on the engineering resource required to deliver the project plan.
- Provide engineering review of the proposed method statements and risk assessments.
- Carry out and record briefings of technical updates to the project team.
- Ensure Supply Chain Partners are supported and appropriately challenged on technical matters to enable effective delivery and reporting of findings from site surveys to Design.
- Ensure that materials are specified correctly, order to meet the project programme.
- Produce and implement an in-process inspection and surveillance regime consistent with company standards and project requirements.
- Provide sufficient site support to the project team throughout the works to ensure that critical engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner.
- Advise the Site Supervisors on engineering requirement, including marking out of sites and ensuring each stage of construction is acceptable and signed off before works progress.
- Ensure that training and competency certification for all staff are valid and copies available.
- Assist in preparation of site documentation, including WPP’s, TB’s, programmes, Permit to Dig, rosters, and ALO plans.
The Ideal Candidate:
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar approved qualification.
- Computer literate for office systems and planning tools.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise, ProjectMapper, and TrackRecord systems
- Project experience (preferably 2 years) - “hands-on” site experience in a similar role
- Knowledge and site experience of using Engineering and Surveying equipment (Trimble, Mephisto, and Amber trolley).
- Experience of undertaking quality control exercises of documentation submitted by SCPs
- Must be able to drive.
- PTS.
- CITB Site Safety, IOSH Safety
