We’re looking for a Survey Engineer for a 6-month contract with Network Rail. This role will specify and lead the survey activity required for the development of the Uckfield Line Decarbonisation (Electrification) project.
As Survey Engineer, you will:
- Undertake surveys to support projects and enhancement schemes including the creation of contiguous network-wide grids of permanent reference points to facilitate the application of absolute co-ordinate geometry systems.
- Specify the requirements for, and oversee delivery of, a contiguous and consistent geometric grid based upon absolute co-ordinates validated by CAD, in accordance with European inter-operable requirements and best practice.
- Check that interfaces between surveys carried out on behalf of Network Rail and outside party surveys are effectively managed including the identification and resolution of any survey anomalies.
- Provide specialist direction and support in the planning and progressive introduction of absolute co-ordinate surveys, and fixed reference points, across the rail network and embracing all fixed infrastructure types and contribute to the refinement of procedures for best practice in surveying.
- Provide specialist advice, direction and support to delivery teams in the survey and setting-out of positional information to support project activities.
- Undertake the monitoring and audit of the activities of survey suppliers.
You will have/be:
- Significant relevant railway experience
- Knowledge of modern survey techniques and the achievement of tolerances to support ATG
- Chartered Engineer
- A member of a relevant Professional Institution such as RICS or ICES
- Experience in the integration of complex engineering systems and of large infrastructure projects
- Awareness of understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
