The Role
We are recruiting for Railway Site Access Controllers (SACs) across the UK, currently we are recruiting for railway construction and engineering sites in the Bristol, York and Newcastle. The requirement is for midweek and weekend day and night shift workers.
Site Access Controllers operate at railway construction sites day and night and seven days a week. Shifts are generally between 10 and 12 hours in length. Ideally you will be seeking 1-2 shifts per week and where possible will be flexible to work across the whole weekend.
As a SAC you will need to be able to work on your own but as part of a safety-focused team working on a railway construction site. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Allow access to site
- Ensure workers are qualified to work
- Check workers have the correct PPE
- Communicate the Health and Safety site brief to groups of workers.
Role Requirements
To carry out this role SACs must possess the following skills and attributes:
- Self-motivated and pro-active
- Experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
- The ability to effectively communicate (both verbal and written)
- Confident and assertive – able to deal with challenging individuals and/or situations
- Competent to deal with groups of people, including delivering important Health & Safety information
- IT literacy
- Being professional at all times - you will be representing both MacRail and the client, often being the only MacRail representative on site
Experience of the rail industry and/or site access is not essential, but would be advantage.
You must have a full UK driving license and have access to a car
