Job Description:

We are seeking an Operations Control Room Manager to join our team in Carlisle. They plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains within our network. You will be responsible for monitoring train movements, coordinating schedules, and responding to operational challenges in real-time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Train Movement Coordination: Monitor the real-time status of trains within the Carlisle network, ensuring they operate according to schedules and planned routes.

2. Dispatch and Communication: Effectively communicate with train drivers, station staff, and other relevant personnel to provide instructions, updates, and information on track conditions or incidents.

3. Emergency Response: Take immediate action and coordinate responses in the event of accidents, breakdowns, or other emergencies, prioritizing the safety of passengers and staff.

4. Schedule Adherence: Monitor and adjust train schedules as needed to accommodate delays, disruptions, or other operational challenges, minimizing impact on service delivery.

5. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all train operations adhere to safety regulations, including signaling, track maintenance, and speed restrictions.

6. Data Analysis: Utilize train management software and systems to gather and analyze data on train movements, performance, and incidents to improve overall efficiency.

7. Problem Solving: Act decisively to resolve operational issues, such as track obstructions, signaling failures, or equipment malfunctions, in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (a relevant degree is a plus).
• Proven experience in a rail operations role, preferably as a train controller or dispatcher.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Knowledge of rail safety regulations and procedures.
• Familiarity with rail management software and systems is an advantage.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
