An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the Operational Resources Team, and in this key leadership role you will be integral to the current and future operational delivery, reporting to the Head of Operational Resources.

This role is all about reliable and consistent Operational delivery, accountable for provision of a fully resourced driver establishment, through driving engagement within the Driver workforce, leading people management and employee relations activities within your area of responsibility. Strong and established Rail Industry Operational leadership experience is necessary, including trade union consultation and negotiation protocols. You'll be the responsible leader for the TPE Driver Management Team, accountable for operational performance of the Driver depots ensuring full compliance with safety standards, a continual improvement trend in operational incidents, and Driver responsible operational performance.

You'll also be responsible for driving operational, performance and efficiency improvements, providing strategic input to Driver and Operations development, within the Operational Resources, and wider TPE senior Operations Management team.

Scope of job role:-

• Lead, motivate, support and inspire your team of Driver Managers to ensure the highest level of role performance and accountability
• Take part in verification audits both internal and external in accordance with the company audit plan. Ensure that corrective actions applicable to your designated team are carried out in a timely manner.
• Maximise Driver Resource availability through analysis of supporting A&U data, ensuring development of depot improvement plans
• Coach and Develop the Driver Management Team as part of individual personal development, and business Succession Planning objectives
• Liaise with the Operational Standards Department to ensure that drivers are examined and assessed as competent in accordance with company standards to provide a safe and efficient train service
• Ensure all driver line management issues regarding the companies people policies are managed fairly, comprehensively, and consistently at depot level
• Ensure that all accident and operational investigations are completed, and appropriate actions and recommendations implemented. This will include acting where competent as company representative for formal Inquiries and Investigations
• Develop and implement comprehensive Training and Recovery plans communicating progress to the wider business through transparent and pro-active reporting
• Implement plans to ensure operations strategy is delivered, including input to budget setting and period by period monitoring and management of budget results, recruitment planning, training (including provision of route learning
• Undertake 2nd Line Operational On-Call responsibility

Candidates will need a strong and established Operational background, be adaptable and flexible to changing business requirements, in this demanding Operational role.
