Type: Part Time. Our full time terms are applied pro rate, with a minimum obligation of 36 days per year.

Location: The new Rail Academy is in Kings Norton, Birmingham, but jobs could be anywhere in the UK so you must be able and willing to travel. Where possible home working is also supported.

SLC Operations is recruiting part time, qualified drivers, qualified train drivers, guards and guard instructors to support growing demand from clients across the UK, in all rail sectors.

This is an exciting time to join the licensed train operator and its specialist training division – The Rail Academy - as it continues to grow and support the rail industry.

To apply, drivers must hold a valid, current driving licence and be able to demonstrate a good safety of the line record. DIs will also hold an A1 assessor qualification (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate a track record of training and assessing.

Guards must have at least 3 years of main line guarding experience and a good safety and customer service record. Guard instructors should have demonstrable training and assessing experience. An A1 assessor qualification, or equivalent, would be an advantage.

All our instructors will drive or guard a range of traction throughout the UK as well as developing training materials, delivering courses and assessing, so they stay up to date, in touch and competent.

As one of our team, you will need a professional, can do approach and the skills needed to help develop innovative training materials; deliver practical and classroom training; consistent and fair assessments; and provide students and clients with outstanding customer service.
