The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of qualified Train Driver Maintainer Operators and Train Driver Operators to join VolkerRail Plant working within the On-track machine (OTM) business in the North East, Midlands, East Midlands, East Anglia and Hertfordshire areas, applications are welcomed from candidates who live in these areas.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for ensuring that the following areas are managed in a professional manner, in accordance with industry and business standards for all disciplines for which you are competent, including:

• Train driving & route knowledge activities of the OTM fleet.
• Engineering / Maintenance activities of the OTM fleet.
• Operational activities of the OTM fleet.

Detailed training will be provided for the OTM specific requirements for all of the above areas.

Skills & experience

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are key requirements for these roles.

To be eligible to apply for the Train Driver Maintainer Operator roles you must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a valid train driver licence.
• Be competent to drive an OTM or other train type.
• Be either a trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or possess an NVQ level 3 (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent (as appropriate in line with competence held).
• Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends, bank holidays and lodge away from home.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.

• Hold a valid train driver licence.
• Be competent to drive an OTM or other train type.
• Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends, bank holidays and lodge away from home.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.

Your role will take you to many varied locations across the UK, working as part of a close-knit team.

Rates of pay are linked to competence with a potential salary of up to £70,000 per annum. In addition to the base salary there is potential for overtime working.
