Train Planner in Rugby, West Midlands, United Kingdom
Purpose of the Role
Allocating the necessary locomotives for delivering operational freight services according to the requirements of the customers' orders. This will be achieved through the production of accurate diagrams for each locomotive, ensuring an efficient use of all available locomotives.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

Produce weekly diagrams by locomotive number detailing all known movements by Thursday for the following week

Generate a weekly fuel delivery plan to align with locomotive diagrams

Liaise with Planning, Rosters and Control to manage changes to locomotive requirements 24 hours out and beyond

Liaise with Control regarding all short term locomotive positioning moves less than 24 hours out

Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure short, mid and long term visibility of locomotive examination requirements

Production and checking of daily operations log day A for day B

The above does not limit your duties and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake any work within your capabilities and capacity.

As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements

Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dealing with the production of plans for locomotives and / or operational assets. They will be able to demonstrate a proactive and results driven approach.
Qualifications & Experience
- Computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Office
- Knowledge and experience of general planning
- Knowledge of rules and regulations as applicable to freight operations
- Good geographical knowledge of the railway infrastructure network
- A proven team player who has the ability to deliver in what could be described as demanding circumstances
- To be able to present information in a clear and concise manner
- Be able to communicate with personnel at all levels
- The ability to have open discussion with clients.
- Holder of full UK driving licence
