HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: BIM Coordinator

Location:

Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

Role description:

• Support the collection and storage of IM material taking into account the project BIM processes and protocols

• Actively liaise with BBV BIM cohorts to ensure a good understanding of standardisation to the work.

• Engage in the integration and co-ordination of supply chain information into the BIM environment, such as survey data, fabrication details and construction sequencing.

• Maintain coordination models in the Contractor’s iTwin portal.

• Support the 4D construction simulation process.

• Attend and contribute to BIM Co-ordination Workshops and model co-ordination meetings.

• Provide assistance to ensure model review comments and clash reports are closed out and/or mitigated.

• Conduct validation checks on the design models to check they contain the agreed level of information and in the format required.

• Support tasks to enable the setting out of the works, through interaction with the project surveying team and site engineers.

• Help report on the progress of BIM for progress meetings.

• Actively explore and pursue connections between BIM and the support of on-site activities, enhancing the awareness of BIM capabilities and encouraging interaction and knowledge share.

• Assist any implementation of supporting methods for BIM within the Project e,g, IFC & IDS.

• Share lessons learnt amongst the business unit and education practices through briefings/demonstrations

Essential Experience:

• Desire to learn and apply BIM Software applications

• Grow confidence and interpersonal skills, to support the ongoing management of the Project Information Model, through active interaction with the wider project team

• Proficient in IT

• Keenness to self-teach applications to a competent level.

• Quick to learn new applications and tools.

• Acquire a good understanding of the UK BIM standards and BIM Level 2 requirements

• Experience and enthusiasm to positively impact the team.

• Drive for continuous improvement and finding more efficient ways of working.
