HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Business Administration Apprentice

Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

Key Accountabilities:

Administrative Support

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the MEP project team.
  • Manage project correspondence, records, and filing systems.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and databases.
  • Support document control activities and information management processes.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of reports, presentations, and project communications.

Meeting & Coordination Support

  • Organise meetings, workshops, and project reviews.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, and action trackers.
  • Follow up on actions and maintain progress records.
  • Coordinate diaries and meeting schedules for project stakeholders.

Project Support

  • Assist with the preparation of project reports and performance dashboards.
  • Support project controls and commercial teams with data entry and record keeping.
  • Help maintain trackers for programme, procurement, risks, and actions.
  • Support onboarding and administration of subcontractors and supply chain partners.

Information Management

  • Ensure project information is stored and managed in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support the management of digital project platforms and databases.
  • Assist in maintaining document registers and project records.
  • Monitor document workflows and approvals.

Essential Experience:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
