HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: MEP Certification Engineer

Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

Key Accountabilities:

• Ensure all HS2 technical and contractual requirements are included in the BBV plans and procedures, and communication of these to the team.

• Monitor change and updates to the requirements and ensure appropriately communicated and actioned

• Support management for delivery of the Technical Assurance and Handover from completion of detailed design through to handover packages (As-built and Quality Record Packages) at each phase of works completion, ensuring full records traceability and availability to the satisfaction of the Client

• Establish monitoring and measuring to ensure compliance evidence is collected progressively and that certification is available at the planned time

• Work in accordance with the BBV IMS.

• Prepare, implement, and maintain the Technical Assurance Plan (TAP), which governs how BBV plans, manages and discharges its assurance obligations

• Reviewing and developing systems and processes for the management and control of site information, data, design and construction related documentation and records

Essential Experience:

• Experience in the management of QMS on major projects in the construction industry, UK experience a plus

• Experience of Technical Assurance (compliance requirements), Handover (Quality Record Packages) and Certification.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma

• ISO 9001 Audit Experience

• Highly organised with good communication and coordination skills

• Autonomy, Initiative, Productive and Efficient

• BBV behaviours, respecting equality and diversity

• Excellent in spoken and written English (technical writing, etc.)

• Leading teams, people management skills, effective delegation, mentoring and coaching and developing others.

• Ability to anticipate potential quality risks and implement or process preventive measures to limit these risks

• Ability to strike a balance between high quality standards and practicality of site implementation

• Good information management and analytical skills, able to quickly and efficiently seek out the relevant and pertinent points from large volumes of project information;

• Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management, such as IBM Doors

• Safety Committed (CSCS card, SMSTS or similar)
