Current Opportunity: Utilities Quality & Certification Engineer
Location:
Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.
Role description:
• Lead the preparation and coordination of Utilities Design & Construction Assurance and Certification documentation required for handover and asset acceptance with the sublot delivery teams.
• Review construction records, inspection reports, test certificates, red-line drawings and as-built information to ensure compliance with approved designs and project requirements.
• Compile and maintain complete certification and handover packs for utility assets.
• Ensure construction assurance evidence is traceable, auditable and aligned to project assurance procedures.
• Coordinate certification activities between design teams, construction teams and assurance stakeholders to ensure timely close-out of outstanding actions.
• Undertake quality checks of construction records and assurance submissions prior to acceptance.
• Track certification status, identify risks and escalate issues that may impact programme delivery or asset handover.
• Support technical assurance reviews and verification activities throughout construction and commissioning phases.
• Ensure all certification documentation complies with statutory, client and project-specific requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of certification processes, templates and assurance reporting.
• Maintain accurate records within project document management systems and ensure document control requirements are met.
• Assist in readiness reviews, handover reviews and final acceptance activities.
• Work closely with the Utilities Certification Manager to ensure delivery against forecast certification and handover programme.
• Monitor change and updates to the requirements and ensure appropriately communicated and actioned.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, Utilities or a related discipline or applicable work experience.
• Understanding of quality management, assurance processes and document control principles.
• Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management, such as Power App, Business Collaborator, Dalux, ProjectWise etc
