Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced and competent Controller of Site Safety (COSS) to support ongoing rail infrastructure works along the Rugby to Watford route. This is a long-term opportunity offered on a 6-month rolling contract basis, providing consistent work for the right candidate.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Act as the designated COSS, ensuring all site activities are delivered in full compliance with rail safety standards and procedures
- Provide safe systems of work and brief all personnel prior to site access
- Work closely alongside a PTS-qualified electrician carrying out planned 5-yearly electrical testing
- Manage track access, protection arrangements, and safe movement of staff on or near the line
- Ensure all documentation, permits, and safety briefings are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain clear communication with all relevant stakeholders, including site teams and operational control
Requirements:
- Valid and in-date COSS certification
- Sentinel card with appropriate competencies
- Proven experience working in a COSS role within a rail environment
- Strong understanding of track safety procedures and regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts as required
Desirable:
- Experience supporting electrical testing or similar maintenance activities
- Additional rail competencies (e.g. ES, SWL, LXA) advantageous
