Current Opportunity: MEP Design Coordinator
Location: Birmingham
As an MEP Design Coordinator, you will support the design management team by coordinating MEP design activities, ensuring effective communication between designers, construction teams, consultants and stakeholders. You will play a key role in managing design information, resolving interfaces and driving design delivery to meet project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate MEP design activities across multiple disciplines and project stakeholders.
- Support the Design Manager in monitoring design progress and achieving programme milestones.
- Manage design interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, architectural and rail systems teams.
- Review design information for completeness, compliance and constructability.
- Facilitate design coordination meetings and maintain accurate records of actions and decisions.
- Assist in the management of design deliverables, approvals and document control processes.
- Identify design clashes, risks and technical issues, supporting their resolution in collaboration with project teams.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure design solutions are practical, efficient and buildable.
- Support the implementation of BIM and digital engineering processes.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards and statutory regulations.
- Track design changes and maintain configuration control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to risk management, value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Experience:
- Experience within MEP design coordination, engineering coordination or design management roles.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and public health systems within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong understanding of design coordination processes and design documentation.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within programme deadlines.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting the delivery of MEP design packages on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of UK engineering standards, regulations and construction practices.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications and design documentation
