Current Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer
Location:
Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Role description:
- Coordinate the design, installation and delivery of mechanical engineering works across assigned project areas.
- Assist and support the Engineering Manager to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical systems.
- Conduct technical reviews of designs, specifications and subcontractor proposals, providing feedback and recommendations.
- Ensure safety, quality and compliance requirements are embedded throughout all stages of design and delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure integration of mechanical systems.
- Manage and monitor technical approvals, documentation and assurance processes to meet project requirements.
- Support engineering reviews, risk assessments and technical workshops, implementing actions to drive successful project outcomes.
Essential Experience:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within construction, infrastructure or major projects environments.
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage multidisciplinary engineering activities through design and delivery phases.
- Strong knowledge of technical standards, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
- Experience reviewing and challenging engineering designs to ensure safe, practical and efficient solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across project teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Experience within rail, transportation or other large-scale infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
