HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Quality Coordinator

Location:

Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.

Role description:

• Production of appropriate reports and management information

• To gather and collate information from different teams to produce different monthly reports

• To arrange and organise meetings in Quality Central Meeting

• To attend Quality Central Team meetings, take MOM, distribute MOM to attendees and follow up actions closure

• To collate actions and agenda items for Quality central meetings on a weekly basis and keep records

• To organise Quality Central Forums

• Support Quality related training to equip the project with the skills to drive improvements in Quality performance

• To maintain Quality Central Trackers (TIDPs) and submit them by deadlines.

•Advise on the preparation of project quality documents and ensure these documents are prepared by competent people and that they are reviewed and revised as necessary

• Utilise systems and processes for the management and control of site information, data, design and construction related documentation and records

• Review subcontractors and other suppliers’ assurance and provide guidance and training to construction team to deliver this approach

• Reviewing the quality procedures of sub-contractors and suppliers and when necessary, undertaking audits of their Quality Management Systems

• Report against quality performance KPIs. Analysing their results and reporting causes of failure to project management.

• Manage the non-conformance process and communicate lessons learned

• Contributing to the continued improvement of quality performance through performance review and identification of appropriate training/coaching.

• Support other quality engineers

• Demonstrate the BBV behaviours

• Ensure a relentless focus on Health & Safety

Essential Experience:

• Confident in working with Senior Management and able to challenge existing ways of working to support business improvement.

• Build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers.

• Training skills and experience.

• Competent user of modern office computer systems e.g. Microsoft Office

• Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.

• Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.

• Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner.

• Has good interpersonal and communication skills

• Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.

• Is able to work within a multi-discipline team.

• Able to command respect across the business and within the Function.

• Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.

• Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
