Current Opportunity: Senior Environmental Management System Advisor
Location:
Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.
Role description:
• Operational management and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure legal and client requirements are met.
• Coordination and maintenance of the EMS documentation to ensure it’s up to date.
• Ensuring process flows are updated on IPTAN Way.
• Improvement and seeking efficiencies in current EMS processes.
• Coordination of EMS implementation by the environment and wider project teams.
• Support effective delivery of IPT assurance activities (TAR), JV parent company audits and external surveillance and re-certification by external assessors (DNV).
• Maintain effective internal EMS audit process.
• Coordination between SMEs for projectwide delivery to facilitate construction activities and provide assurance against legal, contractual and other requirements.
• Collate, evaluate, report and present EMS performance data to senior IPT team.
• Coordination of internal environmental communications.
• Sharing best practice and lessons learned within BBV and HS2 routewide forums.
• Coordination of environmental training record keeping.
• Collaboration with Innovation and Transformation Team and progressing selected opportunities for action.
• Assist Environmental Minimum Requirements and Compliance Manager in client and parent company reporting,
• Collaboration with client and parent companies.
The following qualities/experience are essential:
• Experience of environmental issues in a work environment.
• Excellent IT skills and experience of data management.
• A sound understanding of environmental legislation and principles of environmental management systems.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome.
• Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills.
• Driving licence.
