A leading international rail consultancy is seeking an experienced System Safety Manager to join a major railway programme in Riyadh.

This is a senior position responsible for leading all System Safety and Hazard Management activities across a complex rail environment, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders. The successful candidate will act as the discipline lead for safety engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all System Safety and Hazard Management activities across the programme.
• Coordinate and supervise system safety engineering studies and assessments.
• Review and validate System Safety Lifecycle deliverables and documentation.
• Evaluate and endorse safety deliverables produced by contractors and design teams.
• Ensure compliance with project, client and regulatory safety requirements.
• Support hazard identification, risk management and safety assurance activities throughout design, construction and operational phases.
• Interface with consultants, contractors and client representatives to ensure alignment on safety objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Transportation, Automation or similar) is mandatory.
• Professional engineering registration is advantageous.
• 15+ years of total engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years within the rail sector.
• At least 5 years in a dedicated System Safety leadership position.
• Strong understanding of railway safety standards including EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, IEC61508 and RAMS methodologies.
• Experience with Hazard Analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and SIL assessments.
• Knowledge of signalling systems, rolling stock, railway operations and operational risk management.
• Experience on major rail, metro or high-speed rail projects.
• Previous experience within a PMC, engineering consultancy or client advisory environment is highly desirable.
• Experience in the Middle East is advantageous.
