Company Information

Our client is a well-established and growing engineering contractor delivering multidisciplinary design and engineering solutions across major UK infrastructure projects. With an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and long-term client relationships, they continue to invest in their design capability and are looking to appoint a Senior M&E Design Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative business where you will play a key role in delivering complex mechanical building services designs within critical infrastructure environments.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and delivery of M&E projects with a strong focus on HVAC systems within railway stations, depots and associated infrastructure.
  • Produce and review high-quality design documentation, calculations, specifications and technical reports throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients and stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers while supporting design assurance and engineering best practice
  • Support project delivery through client meetings, design reviews and technical problem solving from concept through to construction

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience delivering mechanical building services design, with a strong emphasis on HVAC systems
  • Ability to produce technically robust designs in accordance with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience within rail infrastructure or another complex engineering environment such as construction, civil engineering, utilities or major infrastructure

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience delivering projects within the UK rail infrastructure sector
  • CRE (Design) experience or the ambition and capability to work towards this level of responsibility
  • Familiarity with Network Rail standards and engineering assurance processes
  • Experience coordinating mechanical design alongside electrical and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Chartered status or working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution

Salary range

  • £55,000 - £65,000 per year
