

Site Manager
Are you an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in groundworks, drainage and civil works on Network Rail projects?
Do you have experience managing site teams, subcontractors, plant and materials within a fast-paced construction environment?
Location: Witham, Essex
Rate: £300/day - Outside IR35
Duration: 12 months
This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager to support the delivery of a major station redevelopment project. The wider project includes the construction of a new station building, a new station forecourt and car park, foundation works, trenching, ducting, drainage, lighting bases, refurbishment of the existing station facilities.
Working closely with the wider delivery team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of the civils package. You will coordinate labour, plant and materials, monitor progress against the programme, and ensure all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.
This role would suit a practical, hands-on Site Manager who is comfortable working directly with site teams, resolving issues quickly and driving works forward.
Working Hours:
·The standard working hours are 7:30am to 5:00pm.
·Night and weekend work will be required at certain stages of the programme and will be paid at an uplifted rate of 1.5 times the standard rate.
Key Responsibilities:
·Assist the Project Manager with the day-to-day management of the site
·Manage groundworks, foundations, trenching, ducting, drainage and car park civils
·Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors
·Manage kerbing, lighting bases and associated external works
·Ensure a safe working environment is maintained for all site personnel
·Manage health, safety and environmental matters across the site
·Prepare, review and brief relevant safety documentation, including work package plans, task briefings and risk assessments
·Control and issue permits to work where required
·Monitor the qualifications and competencies of site personnel
·Deliver site briefings and communicate safety information to the workforce
·Maintain site diaries, work records, progress records and measurements of additional works
·Prepare regular progress reports for the Project Manager
·Liaise with the Project Quantity Surveyor regarding commercial matters and changes
·Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays
·Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
·Manage subcontractors with a strong focus on health and safety, quality and programme delivery
·Liaise with the client, designers, consultants and wider project team
·Prepare timesheets, plant records and other site documentation
·Support the delivery of possession works, including night and weekend activities where required
Essential Requirements:
·Previous experience working as a Site Manager or Senior Site Supervisor on civil infrastructure projects
·Strong practical experience delivering groundworks, foundations, drainage, ducting, trenching and external works
·Experience managing site operatives, subcontractors, plant and materials
·Valid SMSTS certification and CSCS card
·Ability to read and understand construction drawings
·Good knowledge of construction methods and site delivery processes
·Experience working for a Tier 2 contractor or subcontractor is highly desirable
·A PTS / TWC - preferred
