HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: General Foreperson
Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily construction activities across designated work areas.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
- Lead and coordinate site operatives, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress against programme and report any delays or potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with HS2, BBV, and statutory health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
- Review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Manage site resources, materials, plant, and equipment effectively.
- Work closely with Engineers, Site Agents, and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and site performance.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries, and reports.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience as a General Foreperson, Foreperson, or Supervisor within civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good understanding of construction processes and site operations.
- Demonstrable commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction programmes.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
