CNC Machinist / Programmer – Rail Industry

Location: Hammersmith, London


Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:00
Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
Optional night shifts available

Pay Rates (Umbrella)

Day Shift

Standard: £40.54 per hour
Overtime: £50.74 per hour

Night Shift

Standard: £50.34 per hour
Overtime: £63.00 per hour
The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our client based in the Hammersmith area of London. This is a long-term opportunity working within the rail industry, manufacturing precision components for the London Underground network, including station and track infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality components while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Programme, set, and operate CNC lathes.
Manufacture precision components for rail infrastructure.
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Carry out machine set-ups and tooling changes.
Inspect finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.
Undertake manual machining where required.
Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Work collaboratively with the engineering and production teams.

Essential Requirements
Proven experience programming and setting CNC machines.
Experience using FANUC Lathe controls.
Experience with CAD/CAM software, including FeatureCAM and/or Autodesk Fusion.
Familiarity with Heidenhain controls.
Manual machining experience.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including optional night shifts.
