HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Foreperson
Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise construction activities across designated work areas.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to achieve programme milestones.
- Monitor daily progress and report on productivity, risks and site issues.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out in line with approved drawings, specifications and work packs.
- Support the implementation of temporary works and traffic management where required.
- Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across site.
- Ensure all activities comply with BBV, HS2 and statutory safety requirements.
- Deliver site briefings, toolbox talks and daily task briefings.
- Conduct site inspections and proactively identify and resolve hazards.
- Ensure environmental controls and sustainability requirements are followed.
- Report incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience as a Foreperson, Ganger or Site Supervisor within civil engineering or construction.
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors on site.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and safe systems of work.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience delivering work to programme and quality requirements.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
