Role Overview

EWI are supporting an international consultancy firm who are seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning Manager to lead and coordinate all testing, commissioning, trial running and system acceptance activities on a major rail transit project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the integration, testing and commissioning of railway systems and ensuring that all systems are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements, international standards and operational readiness objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution and management of all testing and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and implement Testing & Commissioning Plans, Procedures and Method Statements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary railway systems testing, including subsystem, integrated and dynamic testing.
  • Manage interfaces between contractors, systems suppliers, operators, maintainers and client representatives.
  • Oversee trial running, operational readiness and final system acceptance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, safety regulations and international railway standards.
  • Monitor progress against programme milestones and identify risks to delivery.
  • Lead testing and commissioning teams, ensuring effective coordination across all disciplines.
  • Review and approve commissioning documentation, reports and handover packages.
  • Support stakeholder meetings and provide regular progress updates to project leadership.

Systems Experience Required

Strong experience across a combination of the following systems:

  • Signalling / CBTC
  • Telecommunications
  • SCADA
  • Power Supply & Distribution
  • Traction Power
  • Low Voltage & High Voltage Systems
  • Rolling Stock Interfaces
  • Automatic Fare Collection (AFC)
  • Platform Screen Doors (where applicable)
  • Ventilation & Tunnel Ventilation
  • Fire Detection & Fire Protection Systems
  • Depot Systems
  • Building Services / MEP Systems

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years' overall experience within railway, metro or transit projects.
  • Minimum 10 years' rail/transit experience in Testing & Commissioning, Systems Integration or Rail Systems Delivery roles.
  • Proven experience leading testing and commissioning activities on major Metro, Monorail, Light Rail, Heavy Rail or High-Speed Rail projects.
  • Strong understanding of system integration and interface management.
  • Previous international project experience preferred.
  • Monorail experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
