The Role and About You
This is not "just another maintenance role"; it is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills in a high-demand industry that is vital to the UK economy. As a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for keeping a modern fleet of rolling stock operational and safe.
Whether you're from a background in HGV maintenance, aerospace, plant machinery, marine, the armed forces, or industrial engineering your transferable skills in heavy maintenance are exactly what we need. Essential Skills &amp; Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Proven heavy maintenance experience in industrial or capital equipment.
Practical knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and braking systems.
A team player with a strong commitment to safe working practices.
What you will be doing:
Preventative Maintenance: Carry out planned maintenance activities to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the fleet.
Reactive Maintenance: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical faults to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
Operational Excellence: Adhere to rigorous engineering standards and procedures, maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Data Management: Accurately record all maintenance, defect, and repair information to support ongoing fleet performance analysis.
You’ll work on a 4-on, 4-off shift rota (2 days, 2 nights), with 12-hour shifts from 7:00am–7:00pm. This pattern gives you consistent long breaks between shifts, allowing plenty of time to rest, recharge and enjoy life outside of work.
You must also pass pre-employment checks, including a Drugs &amp; Alcohol screening and a full rail medical.

About The Role:

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.
We are looking to recruit a Site Engineer on a freelance basis to join our Engineering team based in Calvert. The Site Engineer is responsible on site for other junior engineers and assists in the construction operations.
You will be required to liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget. You will be responsible for work with the other team members of the setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the junior engineers and also for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the senior team and Sub-Agent. Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors in the performance of their works, ensuring they are completed to the contractual requirements. Ensuring that the team have all current information and resources required to carry out their duties, you will be required to assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

Key Skills and Qualifications:<ul>
<li>HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE)</li><li>Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.</li><li>Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage is essential for this role</li><li>Must have own transport to be able to attend site(s) in remote areas</li><li>Full driving licence required</li><li>You must hold the following competencies
