Pullman launch for Eddie Stobart

11 Mar 2008

The Stobart Group launched its first passenger charter train.

The Stobart Pullman departed on its inaugural run from London Victoria’s Platform 2 at 10.43 on Tuesday 12th February with 200 specially invited guests. The first journey saw the train travel along a non-stop “Wessex Circular” route via Basingstoke, Andover and Fareham, returning via Haslemere and Guildford to London Euston at 16.09. A range of tours are scheduled throughout 2008.

Says Guy Myddelton, Rail Director of Stobart Group, ‘This is an exciting time for us. Stobart is one of the most recognised brands in the UK and we are delighted to be extending the brand’s reputation for quality and customer service to the UK railway network. We aim to provide luxury journeys by rail throughout the UK.’

Trains are hauled by Direct Rail Services. Carriages were refurbished by Alstom at Oxley. ‘We are delighted with the team there - the quality of work and commitment that they have given us in delivering the set refurbished in time for the launch. We have an ongoing contractual relationship which gives us the reassurance and confidence that we need in order to be able to provide our fine dining rail journeys at the highest possible standard,’ said Mr. Myddelton.
