About us
HS2 is Britain’s new high-speed, zero carbon railway, and the country’s flagship transport levelling-up project. Using world-class engineering to protect the countryside and drive innovation, it will connect London and Birmingham with more services, faster journeys and fewer delays. And it will do more than ensure better journeys for passengers. HS2 is a vital part of the government’s mission to boost growth and build a better future for Britain.
As Britain’s biggest infrastructure project, HS2 is already benefiting the economy – creating more jobs and spreading opportunities to UK businesses. Developing a diverse range of talent, through a range of personal and professional development opportunities, we’re creating a skills legacy too.
We aim to provide a safe and inclusive working environment. A place where everyone working for us, and with us, can thrive and achieve their full potential. It means we’re positive about making adjustments, providing flexible working, and encouraging our staff networks to flourish.
About the role
As a Commercial Manager you’ll be responsible for leading and delivering commercial resources and activities within the Delivery teams. This will involve working closely with contractors and supply chain stakeholders, supporting their activities to provide assurance to the Head of Commercial.
Delivering commercial and contract management to ensure effective commercial control, you’ll also drive supply chain performance. Providing commercial assurance, you’ll lead and review estimates and assess opportunities for project savings. You’ll also take the lead in enabling a collaborative culture that supports colleagues’ development and enhances capability by encouraging innovation, maximising knowledge-sharing and embedding industry best practice.
About you
As an experienced manager of commercial management colleagues on infrastructure programmes, you’ve ideally worked on a publicly funded body or project before. We’re also looking for experience of developing and implementing infrastructure contracts and working with procurement teams on tender preparation and evaluation, using commercial management and reporting systems.
With the ability to develop commercial strategies, you’re capable of managing high value and delivery-critical contracts on capital projects and complex infrastructure programmes. And, with contract, commercial and risk management skills, you’re confident in supporting negotiations with internal and external parties, managing all stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
