Senior Electrical Estimator

A leading MEP contracting company that work in the rail & utilities markets is looking to bolster its preconstruction team with the addition of a Senior Electrical Estimator. This has been a hugely successful business over the last 3 – 5 years who now boast an impressive portfolio of live and delivered works on Crossrail, HS2 and in the EfW market.

Salary £65k - £75k + Package. 4 Days office, one day remote.

Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Electrical Estimator

This is a list of the main duties of the role and should not be considered an exhaustive list of duties.

• Review enquiry documentation to fully determine and understand the full extent of the client’s enquiry. Take responsibility for Document Checklist.
• Manage and report on progress throughout the tender.
• Quantify the extent of the works involved. Produce accurate take off and measure for tenders to ensure the prime cost of the project is fully understood.
• Review commercial / technical risks associated with enquiries to find the best solution. Vet enquiries allocated in order to comply with the preparation and dispatch of accurate supplier/subcontract enquiries to the timescales dictated. Analyse quotations and make recommendation that best suits the business. Take responsibility prior to settlement meetings to check accuracy of the information presented.
• Identify potential risks / opportunities within the scope of enquiries received.
• Identify third party requirements, internal or external, to ensure all information is collated in respect of enquiries.
• Source and provide costings for input into tender documentation to achieve cost effective competitive tender. Input accurate information into Amtech or other applications.
• Identify and understand the programme requirements. Give input to planner to allow production of accurate tender programme.
• Raise queries internally and externally and where necessary.
• Review the contract conditions and highlight these to the Head of Estimating for discussion and evaluation at the earliest possible time.

Essential For Senior Electrical Estimator

• HNC / HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar field of study and/or trade experience as time-served electrician, electrical technician or similar)
• Formal estimating experience on Rail / Commercial / Industrial projects
• Competent in Amtech estimation
• Ability to technically review quotations in detail

• Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
• Previous proven experience in Senior Estimator Role
• Contribute to project estimating strategy
• Prepare budget cost estimates
• Understand and utilise historical benchmarking data
• Understand how to plan the works and assist planner
• Ability to contribute to written methodologies
• Provide value engineering solutions
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong time management skills

• Presentation and report writing skills
• Strong experience dealing with and managing the supply chain
