Position: Fire Engineer
Rate: £385 per day, indicative determination OUTSIDE IR35
Location: Birmingham
Duration: minimum 6 months - 2 years
Start date: December 2021
We are currently looking for a Fire Engineer to support the Midland Rail Hub programme which will be based in Birmingham.
The position will be part time, working 1 or 2 days in Birmingham.
Engineering assurance for fire is the task of providing design advice and technical review for proposed alterations to buildings and railway/other infrastructure in relation to fire risk, to identify and develop appropriate engineering controls for reducing the risk of fires. The Fire Engineer will need to undertake regular liaison arrangements with local rail industry managers, staff and officers of the Fire Authorities, the safety regulator and other relevant bodies to safeguard the clients interests, with regard to fire safety.

To be successful in this position, were looking for some who has;
- A minimum of a degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Engineering
- Ideally a chartered member of the Institute of Fire Engineering
- Had railway related experience
- Experience in fire safety at a management level including knowledge of Building Regulations
- Knowledge of Rail-specific standards (eg BS9992) and experience of applying them
