Installation Design Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto
Salary: Up to $125,000 CAD
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days onsite (subject to project guidelines)
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Installation Design Engineer to join a major rail infrastructure programme in Toronto. This role focuses on design and coordination, not testing and commissioning. The successful candidate will work on technical room layouts, space allocation, cable routing design, and civil interface, ensuring compliance with system requirements and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review designs for cable routing and pathways within technical rooms and along the track.
- Define new cable pathways, manage filling ratios, and ensure constructability.
- Collaborate with civil partners and internal engineering teams to resolve interface issues.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, system specifications, and local codes.
- Apply quality procedures throughout all design stages and maintain documentation.
- Work within a BIM environment in line with the BIM Execution Plan.
- Represent the design team in stakeholder meetings and coordinate with subcontractors.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-10 years' experience in civil works within railway engineering, particularly in design and interface management.
- Strong understanding of pathway and raceway sizing based on subsystem requirements.
- Proven experience interfacing with civil stakeholders and managing integrated design.
- Familiarity with Requirement Traceability Matrix and Interface Registers.
- Previous site experience is an asset, but this is a design-focused role.
- High attention to detail, proactive, and deadline-driven.
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient in Revit, Aconex, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit or other 3D design tools is a plus.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Ontario P.Eng highly desirable.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Clear criminal background check required.
