Quantity Surveyor

Location: Various UK Locations (with travel to major infrastructure sites)

Summary:
We are currently seeking a highly capable Quantity Surveyor to support a growing multi-disciplinary delivery team engaged in a range of complex infrastructure and energy projects, including work at major power generation sites and across the national electricity network.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with solid technical skills in civil and building works. You'll manage commercial activities across all stages of the project lifecycle-from feasibility and tender documentation through to valuations and final accounts-ensuring compliance, accuracy, and value.

You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver major projects to the highest professional standards, contributing to both pre- and post-contract phases. The role requires travel to project locations across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare feasibility assessments and budget costings for major infrastructure and energy-related projects.
  • Compile detailed tender documentation, including full Bills of Quantities using industry-standard methods and software tools.
  • Lead on post-contract activities including monthly valuations, financial monitoring, reporting, and final account negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and client-specific policies throughout all project stages.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in quantity surveying methodologies.
  • Maintain and demonstrate ongoing professional development in line with industry bodies' expectations.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who thrives in technically complex environments and enjoys collaborating on high-profile infrastructure initiatives. You'll bring strong commercial acumen, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Experience across both pre- and post-contract stages using NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contract suites
  • Ability to prepare Bills of Quantities using SMM7 and/or NRM standards
  • Strong background in construction projects (civil, structural, or building works)
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with industry software such as Vector or NBS Chorus
  • Experience on high-voltage substation projects (up to 132kV)
  • Professional membership (e.g. MRICS)
