Commercial Professionals - Senior Quantity Surveyors - South West
A leading civil engineering team is looking for skilled and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyors to support a major infrastructure contract in the Wales & Western region. This opportunity covers the Control Period 7 (CP7) framework from 2024 to 2029.
These roles involve the commercial management of a portfolio of rail-related infrastructure projects with an estimated annual value of £10 million. The work includes maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways. Travel to project sites in the South West and occasional visits to offices in Swindon or Bristol is expected, averaging 2 days per week.
Role and Responsibilities:
Positions are available at multiple levels within the Quantity Surveying team, each contributing to the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects.
- Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS): Lead the commercial management of assigned projects. Oversee financial performance, supervise a small team, and ensure effective cost control and compliance with contractual terms.
- Quantity Surveyor (QS): Manage individual projects independently and work collaboratively with the wider commercial team to identify efficiencies and ensure financial accuracy.
- Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS): Support the commercial functions of a project team, assisting with cost management, procurement, and reporting.
All roles require close coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with commercial goals.
About You:
You are a commercially aware professional with a background in civil engineering. You bring strong communication skills and can engage with stakeholders across all levels. Your decisions are informed by data and financial insight, and your resilience and flexibility enable you to thrive in a dynamic project environment.
You will have:
- Practical experience in a quantity surveying role within civil engineering, working for a main contractor.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential).
- Previous experience on rail renewal, enhancement, or AFA schemes (advantageous).
- For Senior Quantity Surveyor roles: Demonstrated ability to manage large or multiple projects, operate independently, and lead a team.
