In this role as senior sustainability manager, you will need to support new projects and programmes. You will join the existing responsible business team and deliver client-facing consultancy services including the management and co-ordination of technical environmental surveys and ensuring project / programme designs respond to environmental conditions. The role will also support the companies wider corporate ambitions to reduce client carbon emissions by 1 million tonnes and deliver 500 hectares of new biodiverse green space by 2026.

What will you be doing?
- Lead the development of client environmental and sustainability strategies on individual projects, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.
- Support work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and raising the company's profile externally.
- Be the company expert and promote innovation in a particular area of sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, and sustainable buildings. At the same time this person will be a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability with all relevant stakeholders.
- Support the drive to be a leader in sustainability.
Lets talk about you.
- Expert knowledge of the environmental impacts of new developments and appropriate survey and mitigation techniques, both in construction and operation of buildings.
- Experience of the management of Environmental Impact Assessments, including co-ordination and technical review of individual environmental studies.
- Detailed knowledge of the Town Planning system, in particular environmental requirements required to achieve planning consent.
- Proven track record of driving design teams to understand and respond to environmental constraints and opportunities to maximise positive environmental benefits.
- Expertise in one or more sustainability topics (waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, building design, biodiversity).
- Be able to translate technical topics into laypersons language and articulate the value of sustainability.
- Be able to represent the business at relevant forums and through presentations to clients and working groups.
- Champion sustainability and be a leader, encouraging behavioural change throughout the business.
- Developing innovation and best practice, including clearly communicating these to the wider business and our clients.
- As such, they must be able to translate best EMS practices from one area to another. This includes analysing reporting to simplify the processes.
- Bid support support the bid process with strong business acumen.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with client and stakeholders including design team members, contractors, sub-contractors, and regulators
